About the dirham exchange rate
The UAE dirham has been pegged to the US dollar since 1997 at AED 3.6725 to USD 1, so its rate against the dollar never changes. Against other currencies it moves as the dollar moves. These rates are refreshed every morning, and the time of the last update is shown at the top of the converter.
Sending money home
- Compare the rate you are offered with the mid-market rate here: the gap is the provider’s margin.
- Check the transfer fee as well as the rate. A good rate with a high fee can cost more.
- Exchange houses and bank apps often have better rates for popular routes such as AED to INR, PKR and PHP.
